respect is earned, NOT handed out, especially if the person holds that elected position and has no respect for that office themselves or the law/s they swore to uphold or the law of the land. those who put the people first won't make it bc they will be peered out by their corrupted peers. if they don't scratch their backs, they turn their backs on them and force them to either become corrupt or wash out. once they can not do what the people need, they know they won't get re-elected, so its either tap out, or go against their sworn oath
