Guy's I know that this is a little off topic, but not too far off

I lost my father this past October. He was 61. Too young to die. He still had things that he wanted to do in his life.  He worked his butt off for his family. Overtime? If it was offered he took it. I did not want for anything growing up. He did his job as a father. Sure he had some hobbies, but work got in the way TOO often.

I decided to get my priorities straight. I am going to enjoy life. I used to get off of work at 5:00, then drive 140 miles pick up 300 bales of hay, drive back 140 miles. Go to sleep, work the next day, then when I got off of work, unload hay at the feed stores. All that to make a little extra money.

It was not worth it to me. I now work to live, I do not live to work.  Four wheelers? got em. Horses? got em. Hunting dogs? got em. Plenty of hobbies that I enjoy. When I stop enjoying them, I will move on.

We try to do enough good things that we  don't feel selfish. We will take time off this Friday, to take horses, ponies, and goats to the local elementary school for the kids to see. It will be the highlight of their week at school, and only takes up a few hours of our time. There is only 24 hours in each day. How do you want to spend it?

In summary, everybody has to decide for themselves what their priorities are. Remember the ant and the grasshopper? I want to be somewhere in the middle. Be responsible, but have fun doing it Grin
