Lost one with a dc40 to a gator. Last signal was 100 yards in the water. Found the dog with a boat 4 days later. I would go look. I don't think a gator would carry him above water for another 400 .....especially over land. Most of the ones I know of stash the dog close to where they take the dog. The garmin collars are not the most reliable devices around. Good luck, hope you find the dog.
