Around here, in southeast LA, bout a month and a half each year in spring there are chanterelles everywhere.
Can't hardly look into the woods around my house without seeing large patches in every direction.

We find em hunting all the time as well in neighboring parishes.

There are oyster mushrooms too. But I've never harvested or eaten any. They have a lookalike that is toxic and I just don't know enough to be confident I'd get the right one.
Something about oyster grow on dead willow and the poisonous one grows on gum or something. Def don't quote me on that. Lol

Supposed to be morells around here as well. I've never found one. But don't really go lookin either.
