I've got a young dog that is just barely over a year old. Buddies of mine have been trapping a few off a farm close to the house here. They had a boar hog right at about 80lbs in the trap two days ago. Couldn't pass up the oppurtunity to see him work. Trap was set along a thick, brushy, branch that ran right through the middle of a huge fescue pasture. Put a collar on the trap and drove clear across the pasture(797yrds). Parked with a solid 10mph North wind in my face and got out. He was "winding" him from the bed well before I stopped. Sent him and he made a be line for the trap running wide open. Got there FAST and went to baying. I drove back around to 'em and he was trying to catch every time the hog hit the panel. Called him out and told him to load and then drove around the bend. Buddy turned hog loose. He got down in the branch and got gone quick. Waited 20 minutes and then sent him again. Got to the trap and then trailed off. Went 524yrds, barked twice and was caught. Got to 'em, cut and marked the hog, then turned him back loose in good shape. He's making a pretty good hand at stopping both hogs and cattle.
