That sort of stuff can be bad. My old Clyde dog had a toe get bitten off one time. I took him to a vet and they sewed it all up and said for me to soak it in Epsom salt and betadine twice a day. I did it faithfully for a coupleof days maybe even 3 or 4. It started stinking so bad that I could smell it from the front yard with him in the back yard when I got home from work one day. I immediately started soaking it. As I rubbed it the skin started slipping. His foot was green. I was in Palestine at the time. I called a vet friend back in Lexington and told me to bring him on. Clyde almost lost the entire foot because the first vet just sewed the wound up without cleaning it good. There was all kinds of mud and grass and whatever else in there. Gan green had already set in. Thanks to Tom we saved it.
