You said he was raised as an inside dog, like a pet.  I am a big promoter and recruiter for the sport of hog hunting. I love it and take great pride in my dogs.  I do not want to discourage you, but you have to always remember that he runs the risk of being hurt, cut or at worst killed.  As long as you can except that, you will do just fine.
