I don't worry about them getting them around home but in the woods, it is a debated topic as to how long a tick has to be on a dog to transmit some of the tick borne diseases. After losing 4 Plotts  several years ago to Erlichia and a couple of Cur Dogs prior to that before we'd ever heard of it or knew what it was, never even heard of lymes in a dog until some years ago. Probably was just undiagnosed on the few that did get it before then. I am somewhat fanatic about ticks on the dogs. Seems like the tick borne diseases have gotten much worse in the last 10 years for man and animal alike.
