Thanks fellas. It was a good hunt for the boys and I enjoyed, just ended on a bitter sweet note with getting a nice boar but losing a nice young gyp. By no means was she a superstar but she had been hunting well and progressing pretty good, and she sure had a lot of drive to hunt. I was hoping to breed to her next year if she kept it up. But oh well, that’s how the cookie crumbles sometimes. That is part of the reason I’m slowly trying to transition the yard to looser baying dogs. She’s been on probably 20 hogs and this was the only toothy rank one she’s seen. I was hoping she would learn to back up and bay a little more but based off of the cuts I believe she tried to catch out and he cut her down, then probably broke before the dogs shut him down 60yds away. I don’t think she would have went 60yds away from where he was after getting cut, then fell over. Just based off of the dogs that she’s bred down from, most of them that were killed young were killed on the hog because they wouldn’t quit it or back off and bay. She had quite a few cuts but took two hits right below the cut collar and I think those are the ones that got her.
