[The Old Man]

   I was surprised to see ice still on the other day but all the big holes were solid covered and I saw the dogs walk on it several times. A few years ago after the worst cold spell I can ever remember it warmed up and we went hunting and caught a hog, Adam's old dog went on and got bayed in the next section, when I arrived he had a shoat on the bank of a beaver pond that shoat trotted out in the middle with the dog after him the hog fell through and was under the ice the dog fell in with him but didn't go under the ice, but was having trouble getting back up on top. I was sure dreading getting wet but after a couple of minutes he did get up out of the hole.  When Adam showed up I told him you may have to go get him, he said I think he'll get out haha.
