Well, I've been run over by a truck doing 60mph. Danged near killed me. I sure wouldn't want it to happen to a dog. All you can do is try to warn the driver the best way you can. And, if the worst happens try to remain calm enough to take care of your dog. I doubt if the law would be on your side as far as if it was the drivers fault. Most of the time in a vehicle animal collision the owner of the animal doesn't have much recourse, and may even be found responsible for his animals actions.
