I hunt 95% at night, hogs are nocturnal and generally stir more at night, plus its cooler... I hunt my pups at night as young as 6 months, it exposes them to coons and other nightime critters so they can be broke off them at an early age...as for older dogs, mine hunt the same day or night, they are a little more rangy at night, some folks say their dogs wont hunt at night, and they use the same line about hunting off 4 wheelers or horses... I think its more of an excuse than anything... a HOGDOG should hunt day or night, horse or 4wheeler, open or thick... A dog is not finished until he can repeatedly and proficiently handle any situation thrown at him, and thats the main thing that separates a GOOD dog from a FINISHED dog, they have to be versatile...and that takes years (for the guy that tried to sell me a 1.5 year old finished dog for $1200!!!)  laugh Its just my opinion tho, im a harsh judge on dogs... If he is scared of the dark tape a flashlight on his collar Grin I no more hunters that arent comfortable with hunting at night than I do dogs
