Used to do it all the time on the ranch. In winter, when we were feeding hay, you could ride out on a cold night and there would be sows and pigs laid up next to the rolls of hay the cows were eating. We never intentionally tuned a dog loose on sows and pigs so they got used to the truck and would just lay there in the hay with cows walking all wround them.
I caught a good boar one evening checking cows that were calving. A boar hog was eating afterbirth from one of the cows right after she calved. The cow was fighting the boar and he grabbed the afterbirth and was dragging it across the pasture. Luckily for me, I had two dogs with me.....he became a barr that day!
