Thanks for all the great responses guys. This discussion really highlights that each situation is unique, that different methods work for different people and different dogs in different environments. I still feel more comfortable with catch dogs, but that is what works for our dogs where we hunt. To each their own, I'm just glad we can all still hunt with dogs period!
