I think the Airedale has been out of style for a few years but all the old farts in my family crossed them with pits and ab's all the time.  Made wonderful catchdogs, and they could use their nogin. One reason my uncles stopped using them was they said the cross led to increased stranger aggression.  That's only anecdotal evidence and bet you'll get a heck of a dog.
