Seems to me that the yellow black mouth color was the one that was popularized with the breed, and like when anything gets popularized it gets watered down with bad breedings because dog peddlin people just want to push yellow dogs and they stop breeding for good cur dogs. There fore it might be you gotta wade throught allot of yella dogs because of them folks. But they could care less about the reds, brindles and blacks so any dog that was bred which was that color(other than yella) was bred because it was a top notch dog by a guy who was looking for more than just a dog to peddle onto someone else. In other words, if a dog carries the gene for red or any one of the other colors to me that means he comes from stock that was not watered down by popularity. I could be wrong but thats what I always figgured.
