Well Deputy Dawg, Kyle aka Barbie, and myself made a round. Kyle has been playing Arena football for the Barnstormers. He won the starting job at QB and was player of the week for three out of his five starts, not bad for an ole hog doggin country boy. He’s home now for shoulder surgery. We cast Outlaw, Ava, and Ray and Ava and Ray went one way while Outlaw sat down bayed literally 40 yards from the buggy. The other two got there and the hog tried to leave but they were biting the brake pedal. He caught Ray in the process but a very minor nick. They had him turned in 40 yards. Kyle and Deputy Dawg got in there and no sooner than they got ahold of the hog, the bees got ahold of them. They turned loose and ran like little girls. The Dawg yelled for me to watch it, bees are everywhere. Well Outlaw was caught on one ear with a pretty good boar with pretty decent teeth. I told him, well Outlaw is caught too and I’m not leaving him hanging. I went on in and Deputy Dawg came back in. We got the hog thrown and stuck. He was 220-230#. It was funny because two bees flew right past me to sting deputy Dawg. Kyle said he wasn’t going to complain at all about getting stung because after the Barbie story, he could only imagine the story this time. I don’t know what he means. I’m just like the news, I only report the truth. The dogs relayed and the next hog was a track star. It broke and ran but they stopped him in small briar patch in an open field. We sent the catch dogs and caught and stuck him. He was only 130-140#. We loaded dogs and went to the house. Deputy Dawg was feeling bad. His eyes were blood shot, his body broke out in hives, and his top lip and head were swollen, ginormous! It looked like a botched Botox job. He said he got stung right on the lip. We got him home and gave him some Benadryl and within 20-30 minutes he was getting better but that lip continued to swell. I told him da$$ man, now you know how Jimmy Zalesky feels walking around with that big ole head! His head was swollen for sure. Another guy in our county was killed by bees that same day I believe. I hate that for him and his family.

This was pre-swelling

Second boar

They didn’t bother me. I don’t know what all the crying’s about. I think the bees saw three bears and decided to get the two kuala bears and leave the grizzly alone. They called them bees but I don’t know if it was bees or wasps, hornets, yellow jackets, gnat’s or what.

Good hunt. I sure feel for them guys. We have had it happen a few times and it's not any picnic. Ole Outlaw going to be salty for sure.

Outlaw took a lot of cutting early on. He has either been really lucky or learned a lot, maybe some of both. He’s my right kind of gritty. I wish he wouldn’t help on those bigger boars like that but knock on wood, he’s stayed out of the infirmary. I probably shouldn’t get so attached, but he’s my favorite dog I ever raised. Not the best one, not yet anyway, but he’s very well rounded and SUPER easy to get along with.
