Been about 8 weeks since puppies for sketch, they’re pretty well weaned and figured it was about time to start getting her legged back up incase we need her trailing services in the future, and need to try to dry her up. She doesn’t have a great bag.
Had a couple boars rotating through coming to a feeder at our Camphouse just north of Flatonia. Caught a few boars with my greyhound off this same feeder already this summer.
Called my buddy Kaleb and he was down to go so jumped spoon, sketch, and lizzo on the truck and swung by his place to grab him.
We got there about an hour early and camped about 150 yards from the feeder. 8 o clock come around and we were losing light so I kicked sketch and spoon down. They went about 300 right behind behind the feeder and sketch stood him up, spoon fell in and they were bayed. I sent Kaleb down to the slough where this hog was gonna break to the neighbors if he tried to run. And I sent lizzo from the truck and went to Kaleb. Hog was bigger than I guessed him for and lizzo missed/got thrown(she’s not a bulldog). Hog breaks across our face and I didn’t have my rifle. Caught lizzo and waited to see what cur dogs did.
Spoon stopped him back about 150 yards in to the neighbors, we swapped lizzo for some lights and my rifle and went to them. They had him bayed in a hard 90° in a dry branch. When I peaked around the corner had him at maybe 6 foot, and put one in his forehead. Ended up being a good boar about 200lbs with decent teeth. Can’t believe he stopped a 2nd time and then stood for the light. Hogs don’t typically do either of those in this country.
Been trying to get Kaleb to tag along for a few months now so cool he finally decided to come and we could go kill a good hog. and after a couple months of no sketch, made my evening to be back in the woods with her, and watch her and her son do their thing.

We were out of there about 10:30 after a couple beers on the flatbed sitting in the pasture looking at the stars BS’ing. 2:30 am I get a cell cam text from same feeder. His brother showed up lol. Kill one just to make room for another.
