Hunt got off to a real good start. We put the dogs on the ground and they worked a track for 1.84 miles and finally got bayed. Boar took a good bay for about 5 minutes. I sent the catch dog in and he broke the bay. The boar took em on a long run and they got him bayed again. I sent in two catch dogs this time. My main CD and then the rookie. Got in there and my main had control and my rookie was dangling off the ear like an earring. His feet weren't touching the ground and his eyes were huge. I noticed everything (bay dogs) was cut and that the rookie CD had been poked 3 times in the shoulder just under the vest, but didn't see any frothy blood so I knew he would be alright. He was locked but in shock apparently. Broke him off and took his vest and cut collar off and got him in the water because he wasn't breathing well (Deep and labored.) I thought maybe he was hot. He started doing better about 30 minutes later. So anyway, I legged the boar and called for help. I had to cross a waist deep ditch and people were trying to figure out how to cross. We had brought some newbies last night. Went ahead and stuck the pig because as soon as I grabbed his back legs I noticed they would not fit in my hobbles and my dogs were in trouble. His feet were huge. Here's a few pics I managed to grab. Later on was when the hunt really took a turn for the worse. We struck a big heard of pigs and had 3 bays going 10-20 yards ahead of us. Usually I let the CD go too early, so I decided to wait and see if the dogs would work together on one pig. They all broke and it was a long long night. I had dogs scattered out over 3 miles of marsh. All baying different pigs. We got to one bay and there was a 40 yard ditch blocking us. I started to turn the CD loose until I saw a 7' gator sitting to our right. We got looking around and there were quit a few still out. My two best strike dogs were over 1,000 yards from this bay and stayed bayed for over an hour. We just couldn't get to em. We finally got all the dogs back except for my catahoula which had managed to get cornered by some alligators. I had to walk alllllllll the way around to call her out of there. After getting back to the house, I sutured dogs until the sun was coming up. I think the hunt started at 7pm and ended at 7am. Hog hunting, don't ya love it. Dogs are all doing fine, but stayed in there houses all day. I Fed them very well and gave antibiotics the poked ones. They will be ready again about December. I'm guessing over 300lbs for sure...judging off the last two big sow we caught and weighed that were 238 and about 270lbs.     The hunt took a turn for the worse after this pic.   |

Dang good hog man. That is one big son of a gun. sounds like you got some dang good dogs too. I like a dog that will stick with one like that. Hope all the dogs heal up fine.

thanks guys and gals, i'm going back to bed. im beat.. had to get up and go get meds for the dogs. just passed by my buddies to post the pics. hope yall enjoyed em. dogs are all doing well and will be fine. I need new cut vests. that boar cut through the uglydog black vest with red straps, w/ 1 layer of kevlar. i think it's 5-6 layers total. the one that overlaps the neck w/ the white reflector strips that was like $120. it saved my dog though.. |

just went back and watched your video when yall bayed that hog on the hill that got in the creek or river. the one where you had 3 dogs on that pig (two curs and a plottxcur). those dogos would have came in handy last night. |

Awesome Boar! save that skull. Gators scare me, does a bay with a hog in the water drive the gators away or is it like ringing a dinner bell?? I dont know if yall get in the water with those gators but that has got to be freeky at night!
