A friend of ours had a mother dog die and left 9 puppies at the age of 2 1/2 weeks.  I took them in and am raising them until they are strong enough and old enough to go back to the owner.  The puppies are doing great, they are now eating dry puppy food and drinking water. They are running all over the place and even have one that when she comes out of the pen her nose hits the ground and she starts baying toys.  They are now nearly 5 weeks old.  I have one little runt that is still getting a bottle at night for the nutrients in the milk.  The question I have is one of the puppies is having trouble having bowel movements. I have been doing the genital massage that the mother dogs do when the pups are newborn but the little fellow still is having problems.  What can I give him to help him along.

Thanks,

Robin

I want to thank Mr. Mason for talking with me and Wormy Dog for replying to us about this subject.  The puppy died last nite about 10:30pm.  It was heartbreaking.  I still have 8 that are going strong and running all over the place. The one we lost was just not up to the same speed as the other litter-mates.  Again thank you for your help.
