Matt, hook worms will not make a stool have red blood. There characteristics are a dark stool. The blood is digested if you have hook worms. The dog will sometimes become dehydrated due to the lose of blood

Depending on the amount of hookworms or infestation, you may very well see blood (looks like blood) in the stool along with mucus. I have had plenty of Fecals done to confirm Hooks in the stool.
Ivomec is not the best wormer for intestinal worms in dogs. That is why it is important not to rely on Ivomec alone for DOGS.
Atleast once a year you need to power dose your dogs with Strongid or Panacur or both. alternate if and when possible. I had have to several times to kick infestations on dogs that were religiously wormed every 30 days. I have some dogs come to me that got a 5 day dosage to kick the infestation on adult dogs.

reffererring to the types of intestinal dewormers commonly used for dogs.
Coach, I got a bunch of animals, and I like to keep it simple across the board until I am need of taking more effective steps, but in general I do Safegurad & Ivomec every single month I buy the Bulk SafeGuard Cattle Wormer (I think the 290 gram) and It works in a gun similiar to a caulking gun, each click is effective for a 250 lb calf ( trying to remember off top of my head) and that is what my grown dogs get 1 click, my goats, 1 click, well the donkeys have a little different system but they can all get the same stuff

We had an older cat/cur with the same problems. The older he got the worse it got. Went to the bathroom alot. Took him to the vet and he said the same. Age made it worse, til it looked like the Hemorrhoids would actually come out. Some dog foods irrated it. Put him on a raw diet and he did better. After a night of hunting alot, it would bleed more.
