Since most of us have more gadgets than we can carry i.e Garmin, Camera, Cell phone, Wallet, Trashbreaker, leads, hobbles, knife, flashlight and water in the summer.  I have always felt like a gold miner running through the woods with crap hanging off my belt.

Have any of you all come up with a to keep everything together and all accessible. a back pack is nice but always gets caught in the cedars or in barbwire.

I was in the military for a while and have wondered about a chest rig made just for the dog hunter. I have used them and they are awesome. You can jump in and out of the truck with it on and not get it hung up on everything. and if you have to take a dip you can just unzipp it and hold it over your head and wade across or leave it on the bank. they range in price from 20-400 dollars. lots of them have the Molle system and you can just keep attaching the right sized pouches on. Another plus is alot of the pouches come with a rain proof liner.

here is what I am  talking about.

i use a small camelback bag.  it rides close to your back and has a 2liter bladder.  the molle vests are nice but are hot during the summer.

I was thinking about using my old MOLLE chest rig as well. I can put the Garmin in a radio pouch and just about everything else in the 2 M249 ammo pouches I have.

I have learned a very good lesson about putting like anything that can be ruined by moisture in a camelback.  I have used them for years and had a good many pop. and besides SUMMER IS HOT IN SUMMER! Grin.

Well to be honest I reckon my chest has shrunk and everything else ballooned... so I should be OK. Haha!

They make a couple of new rigs with the camelback built into the vest itself...its alittle more expensive but works great and with all the gadgets the military has, theres an endless choice of pouches out there to keep everything close and pretty snug...I enjoy using my vest year round, it just gets some weird looks when you step out the truck with it on, people look at you like the GI JOE of the hog hunting woods.

I've been looking into some kind of tactical vest for hunting and came across a few made for airsoft and paintball that looked pretty good but never did get around to ordering one. The ones with the built in bladders look tempting but it would suck to have one break over my back when I am a few miles into the forest.

Most of the better bladders on the market are fairly resilient. I never did particularly like tactical vests for military use. I think I might like them even less for woods crawling with dogs. Let me try and get a pic of the issue chest rig I have.

The patrol belt with the MOLLE system looked like it would work pretty good for hog hunting.
