Snake Pics

Thought I would pass this on.  I received these photo's from a friend through email of these rattlesnakes.  Now tell me, if someone goes into a pit after them are they drunk or stupid....I think I would have to leave them alone. I can't understand why someone would want to go into a pit with that many rattlers.  Go figure.  This is what was attached to the pictures.....Not sure when these were taken.


Kendall County Deer Lease

Some guys on a deer lease found these in an old storm shelter; they went in with flashlights, pitch forks, axe handle and a "T"post . . . there were more that they couldn't get to. 
 
My weapon of choice would have been five gallons of gas and a match.[/size

Come down here to the salt grass country in the spring. Can get you a truck load just like that. One year a friend and I were on Matagorda Island moving the cattle off to spring pasture and killed a gallon pickle jar full of rattlers in two days.

Thank you for the invite but I think I will pass.  My family use to own a beach house at Matagorda and I grew up down on the coast so I remember how bad they were and remember how bad the water moccasins were, so I will stay up here were we have to beat off the copperheads...lol

looks like south florida during the rainy season. saw so many as a kid even a geen snake gives me the chills

I think since they have put the new bridge in the days of cattle drive and swimming the river are over with. But talk is they may try it but Im afraid the bridge is too high and the cattle are not going to travel over too good. But I have been wrong before. I have got some pics some where of the cattle swimming if I can get Mama to help me get them on this machine. If Mike will talk about it get him to tell you about hunting hogs on that contry. It is tuff and unforgiving. There is one place on the river where you can eat lunch and watch the pigs eat.

I can tell you this much... I don't care to do it again. I've hunted pretty much all over the state and that has to be worst i've been in.

Rockin-P, by no means did you take away from what I posted. My husband and I both love reading what one story starts out to be and ends up being something else, but all connected some how. I know exactly how things can be down on the coast.  I grew up down there.  I have seen snake balls rolling down the East Bernard, We have run from water moccasins that showed up in our driveways and as a kid living in West Columbia had baby alligators show up in our yard and my brother and I put them in the bath tub and kept them until one opened it's mouth at my mom.  Yes you heard right baby alligators...the next door neighbor which was the sheriff at the time had gone out and robbed a nest and brought them home and planted them in his back yard in sand and they hatched,  My mom had a cat that brought two of the baby's home to play with and we ended up with them in the tub.  My husband and I both love reading all the stories that everyone has to tell so lets keep them coming.  These young people only think hunting hogs is the bomb...lol

That's funny doubleR when I was a little I got in a mess of trouble at Brazos bend state park for catching copperhead and moccasins and putting them in a big plastic miracle whip jar. and at my papaws house on Toledo bend my cousin and I cuaght a baby gator and tried to hide it in grandma's pond 
Believe it or not spending my whole life in brazoria county woods and creeks ive never seen a rattlesnake. Maybe the water moccasins eat them all, because ive definitely seen my fair share of them.

T-Bob,  I had to chuckle at your post cause it reminded me of when my son was a little boy.  He had this infatuation with snakes.  Down the road from where we lived was an elderly couple and a moccasin got into their house and they called the constable to come get it out.  The constable shot it and threw it out in the yard.  I was in the kitchen and looked out the window and saw my son and his little friend dragging this snake behind them, when I asked what they were doing they said they were taking it to his friends daddy and going to get him to cook it.  All I could do was shake my head.  Not sure if he did cook it and it got eat, not sure if I want to know.  But this is from a boy that caught a bat to play with when he was a teenager.  Guess boys will be boys.

UP HERE IN SOUTHWEST OKLAHOMA WE HAVE A SNAKE DERBY AT THE END OF MARCH. LAST YEAR WE GOT $6.50 PER LBS FOR SNAKES.  SOUNDS AND LOOKS LIKE I NEED TO COME DOWN THERE AND HUNT SNAKES.
