I am new to this great sport and I was wondering what everyone's favorite breed or mix of dog to hog hunt was.

Just give me a dog that has been selectively bred generation after genernation (by someone that knows what they are doing) to hunt hogs! I have gotten lucky with a few good curs bred this way. Wink

this question has been asked before...BY ME..lol...the answers u r going to get aren't going to really give u what u r searching for. I have been where u r. I run a bmc, a bmc/dogo, and full dogo for catch. each dog is a little different but good none the less. each breed has its pluses and its minuses. each breed has its bad apples and its exception of the rule. personally I like the reverse colored bmc's and dogos for catch. I also like crosses. I like takin a cur with a touch of hound or cur with a touch of jagd..catch dogs are dogos and pits..and their crosses..hope this helps...

x2x2 dont go for breed or color. Get a dog out of line bread hog dogs. When you start to mix it becomes a crap shoot, youll need to raise the whole litter and cull or get lucky. know what the grandparents hunt like etc and if you are happy with the average dog it throws get one.

I like a good cur out of some good stock,,, with either 1/8 or 1/4 plott in it.. the plott seems to give them more drive, nose and bottom
