Took some Iowa guys hunting today. We usually catch and tie but these guys wanted to shoot them with bows. First time anybody ever tried to shoot bows around our dogs we got lucky and they acually got to shoot two biggest sows well over 200 lbs one guy also shot a five lb shoat trying to slip by us. The other two pigs were in just to thick cover to chance a shot sent bulldogs in and let them stick them two they were around 150lbs. Good days hunt.

I saw them doing this on TV the past Saturday.  They were shooting them with their longbows when dogs had them bayed.

No offense intended, but I wouldn't let nobody shoot a bayed hog with a bow around my dogs.  My luck is way too bad.

Yeah, that's a tough one. If my dogs bayed loose, I wouldn't see the harm in rifle/pistol if the shooter is competent. But my real concern with archery would be incomplete penetration. If there is an arrow sticking out the other side of the hog, and the dogs pile on after the shot (as some bay dogs tend to do) I would be real nervous about the dogs getting stuck/cut by the broadhead now attached to the side of the hog.

Dont get me wrong i was a little worried about it at first, no alot worried but me and my hunting buddy was right with them calling the shot with our bulldogs at our side. The pigs in the thick stuff we just cut bulldogs loose and let them knife em. The young kid in photo shoots some type of circuit competion and is exellent shot.
