The other day I got my arse handed to me by a 275# boar that we have in a baypen. He's one of those real rank boars that's just plain mean.... but anyways
We decided to take his cutters off so we could do some training with some of our "rough" dogs, as we knew this hog would surely back them up a bit. Well, I turned my Snappa dog in hoping she'd bay while I snuck around him, but as soon as she saw me coming she caught him. No big deal, just legged, flipped and got on top as usual.
This time, however, I neglected to tie him up before a friend pulled my dog off.....
BIG mistake lol
I'm 6'2/200#'s and I'm here to tell you that hog decided he was ready to get up and there was nothing I could do to stop it
Before I knew it I was on my head, with a death grip around his waste, trying to prevent him from gettin' turned around on me.
FINALLY, my friends saw what was happening and all bailed on top of him and we finally got him tied up.
So, it got me to thinking, the only times I've ever really about got nailed by a hog(on the ground) was when I didn't take the time(or forgot rope) to tie one up. Several other times I've about gotten in trouble holding a hog while friends ran back to the truck to get the rope. I don't care how "man" enough you are, if a bad one decides he's getting up.... he's getting up. (or maybe I'm just a big pansy
)
Personally, I always try to leave a bulldog on the hog until I've got the legs cinched up.
Any other good stories about hogs whippin' you???
