i have to disagree with you on the flawless dog there are dogs out there that can do it all and do it alone...hunted with one for a couple years now his only flaw is hes a little old and cant stay with a running hog longer than a few hours and if you dont belive it ill take you hunting with the old man

larry parker started his line breed on a flawless dog...if that dog would have had flaws then why would it be the grand sire to everything he owns?

he might not have flaws to you or him or allot of ppl but to someone he might have several im not sayin he isn't flawless to you im just sayin everybody has their own taste and what im sayin that my opinion on that is to me is if i were to call a dog perfect in my mind that means everybody loves that particular dog and there is no way that your goin to get every single hog hunter in the world to agree that they all believe that dog is flawless because some ppl think that long range dogS are no good on the same token some believe short range dogs are no good would consider that trait a flaw which in my opinion  would make that there is no such thing as a flawless dog that everybody would agree was flawless that is my opinion on that and nobody could change my outlook on that topic

i respect your opinion no doubt about it but you clearly stated that you would show me flawless dog and if the dog isn't what i would consider flawless then i would disagree with you on the token my ? is everybody here bred a dog that they thought had no flaws because At the beggining i asked if y'all thought it was possible to breed a certain trait like open mouth out of a dog if that was the only trait you disliked i didn't want to venture off on perfect dogs i guess what im actually askin everybody out there had dogs that they considered not to have a bad flaw in em and didn't breed anything out of their bloodlines ? and their dog they started with has the same traits  that are in your dogs now and you are satisfied with your dogS and all their traits im not tryin to argue just want to know how everyone decides what to breed because i have a ybmc line that has been goin on since my grandpa had it and its been line bred for all those 50 somethin yrs and i am satisfied with dogs i just believe that there are ways to make a line of dogs that aren't already created im just askin

its just depends on what you want out of your dogs do you want more nose, drive, bottom,or just to be closed...i would not breed a dog that is open even if i breed him to a bird dog or anything thats is closed mouth because there is still a chance of having a throw back dog that is goin to take the same traits as that male dog, its all about the consistency in your litter if you dont want your future dogs to bark on track then imo i would not breed him not being rude just giving my opinon

i agree with you totally on that, thats why he is 10 yrs old and has no offspring and that is why im askin to see if anyone has ever attempted it and had sucess chances that i breed this dog are slim

now just to give you this info the old dog that i said in my eyes is flawless is twelve and i have seen three litters out of him and have not seen a good dog out of him yet...my last liter is only 5 months i breed him to a plott and hoping it takes a lot more of the stock dog side out of him

Is it possible to breed out....yes.  Is it feasible...no.

Simply put, the purpose of linebreeding is to consistantly reproduce what you start with.  Your intent should never be to produce better without outcrossing.

i know how you man i had a old dog out of my line bred curs and don't know why but he was out of an outcross breedin to bring some new blood in and he was what i would consider jam up and even though both his parents were line bred i have not produced anything close to him and i couldn't breed him guess he was sterile no breeding ever took and he ended up diein of old age so i guess mother nature controls everything no matter how much we do
