Well here goes, been laid off for five months and finally got a job in a totally different industry than ive ever worked and the paychecks are puny! Been working 60+ hour weeks and making about $20 more than I was on unemployment. Never done any oilfield work so I don't know Jack bout it but I've got a wife and a one month old baby girl at home and I gotta do something.  Here's my question,  how do you get a job working in east Texas oilfield, like who are the companies I need to contact and what kind of work will I do? Ive been a construction superintendent for years and have always had to bust my as* so that won't be a problem for me.  Those of you who work in the woods or maybe even on barges I ain't begging for nothing, I just don't know anything about yalls industry except you can make some good money. Any advice or leads would be appreciated.

They are all hiring... Neighbors, H&P, Patterson... Check all the service companies also... flowback, frac, swabbing, perforating... most of them are hiring also.

The deal with most of those is there is no guarantee you will be working near home.

Hopefully the prices will come up and the on-shore stuff can pick up some of the slack.

All I can tell you is good luck. My hubby works offshore on a ROV boat, and they just demoded 2 of the 3 boats they had in use. It's turning into a nightmare thanks to the dumb prick in the white house.

Thank you all so much for the help. After speaking with my boss we came to a compromise that makes it worthwhile to hold my current job, plus I just picked up another part time so I now work three jobs, Seven days per week.  No complaint here , I consider myself lucky to have one job in this economy.  I hope that this thread can be useful to everybody else who finds themselves out of work right now.
