Last time I just said thanks USHog and Mike asked for a story and pics.

Joe has been nice enough to help me work with Star (my AB/Dogo). Joe had a couple fields he had to hit for some farmers and said I could bring some dogs. I brought Mandy my BMC she has rocked in a pen but has not been out in the woods and I brought Star to lead in behind other catch dogs. I got there just before eight in the evening and Justin was there waiting. Joe was right behind me maybe sixty seconds. As we got the dogs ready some other guy walked up with a dog. I did not get his name but Justin called him Smiley. We hit the first field with little Joe in tow. We walked back in on what Joe called the jungle so I was ready. But nothing, which may be a good thing because he said they had seen a gator in a pond. So we left there with all the dogs not ate. dropped little Joe off and headed to another field. This time we took the four wheeler and Justin's Rhino. We got to ride around in the the dark. Oh did I mention, Justin said he has gone with Joe several times and not seen a single hog? We smelled a skunk and Justin's dog barked at something but it was not a hog. Then my dog Mandy who had been running beside the Rhino was gone and all the other dogs too. Heard some noise in the crops. Finally I heard a grunt. So I grabbed Star off the back and got ready to run. Joe got in the way of a hog running by (story a little off for a jab at Joe). Then finally the squeal! I got there and all the dogs were on the hog. I did not see any room for Star so I held her back. Joe pulled his two Dogos off and put them on a lead. Then he gave them to me to pull out to the four wheeler. In case you did not know I can only use one of my hands. So I pulled all three catch dogs back out with one hand. Now I ain't saying nothing about Joe there. He asked if I could and I said yes. We got the hog out Joe and Smiley ran it back to the trailer. I guess it was about 150-200lbs but I am not good at guess weight. We finished going around the field but the other hogs were gone. It was late so we headed back. Joe let me have the hog so I will be eating pork roast.

I learned:
My wrist hurts a lot less when I am hunting (I broke it and have to have surgery next week) so I should hunt more!
After hunting into the early morning just leave the hog alive and clean it after you wake up!
Joe does a great job looking out for my dog and knows something about training a Dogo. His look real good.
Joe is serious about hunting but still has fun and that is important to me.

Thanks Joe

Sorry Mike I will try to take pictures next time. The hog is already on ice.

Oh yeah, cleaning a hog with one hand ain't easy!

It was great having you last night. I would say that we need to do it again but I already know that we are going again toonight. It was a fun hunt.

I like the Justen comments. Justen and I have hunted for 3 or 4 months now from time to time and together we have never caught a hog together until last night. Dubs first hunt with us changed it all. I enjoyed it very much and see you tonight. I will have to take the camera this time.
