I was huntin a couple weeks ago and my garmin stopped tracking my dogs. I had just replaced the batteries right before we left the house. The GPS on the handheld has no bars. Has anyone had this problem. It was working fine and then it just all of a sudden quite. I tryed it today and the same thing I got one bar on the handheld but couldnt get it to pick up anymore or track my dogs. Everything else works fine never had any problems until know. I have never gotten it wet or muddy. If anyone has had this problem let me know how you fixed it. Going to call garmin tomorrow to late right know to call. Thanks

I have been having trouble with mine losing collars also. I talked to Garmin and they talked me through some things over the phone first. First I had to unplug the white wire in all the collars for five minutes and plug back in. Didn't make a difference. Then I sent my unit back and they sent me a new one. Got it back and used it last night. Same problem! After 200 yards it lost one dog. Then it would not pick up two dogs for a long period of time. The other dog would go on and off with communication. So the two I lost I tried turning off, deleting, re-adding.. Finally I turned both of them off for about 2 minutes and back on, re-added and they worked. But after about 200-300 yards out, the garmin lost them again. I also used the long range antenna on the system as well. When my Garmin was in the shop I used a buddys and it picked up my collars fine. So I dont understand the problem. Has this happened to anyone else?

I know you have to be extra careful when plugging in your long range antenna. If you tighten it just a little too much it will break the antenna wire down inside and all you will be able to track is couple hundred yards or so.

yeah most likely your antenna or the wire in the gps for the antenna. try your buddies antenna on yours if it still doesn"t work probably the gps.

I talked to them for over 2 hours mostly on hold. I did all kinds of stuff but have decided it is just broke some were in the hand held. It wont pic up a satalite or any dogs. I am sending it in this week to be fixed. They said it will be a month before i get it back. Good thing all my friends have them. I hate running my dogs with out it.

Well now I have a new GPS hand held and it still will not pick up the collars. I unplugged the white wire inside the collars and let sit for five minutes and still nothing. Guess I will be sending all my collars back now. This is a pain!

How come all I hear about the garmin is a bunch of problems it has and no good threads about it, Yall should have stuck with the ole faithful radio systems. When they become true GPS I might think about getting one, I want to track a dog in New York when Im in Texas Smiley

new antennas for dc 30?   as for the dc 20 goes the cable conversion is no good tried a few dif ones the best way for a dc 20 is run it straight up with the rubber antenna it works just as goos as a dc 30 if not better
