I have a 5 week cat pup that isn't doing to hot.  She sounds really congested.  What can I do to alleviate some of the congestion?

if you can get your hands on some i would use Amoxi drops.  i had that happen with a liter of pups i had and that stuff worked really good.  i think you may have to get a perscription for them though, i can't remember.

Thanks Boarwild.  I can't get my hands on any.  I think I will try some penicillin.

sounds like it might have phenomonia. i used to work for a vet and see pups come in and i even had a bmc pup have it.....its hard to get rid of if thats what it is. it takes some pretty potent antibiotics(baytril or clavamox and a steroid called temeral-p). if thats not what it is and more pups come down with it....if they havent been vacinated....it may be distemper....uper respitory infection that is highly contagious from pup to pup....runny eyes runny nose very congested.....that also takes a antibiotic called doxicycllene. if its the congestion isnt sever you can get cloraphinermene(not sure if i spelt it right) over the counter(give one pill every 4-8 hours as needed for cogestion). it ushually used for allergy control in humans instead of benadryl(dyphenhydromine) it doesnt have to seditive effect like benadryl. hope this help!!!! good luck!!! let us know how the pup does.

This pup died the day after I posted this.
I had rescued her and a male from a very bad situation.  The male was suffering from ring worms and a terrible case of coccidia.  He made it and is doing fine.  He's now 11 weeks old.  He's still a bit small, but he's gonna be fine.
