We started off the weekend Sat. morning hunting some old grounds.  Scott Leone and his girlfriend were supposed to meet me and my boss/ hunting partner for that mornings hunt.  Scott had some family emergency come up so Tammy and I decided to meet the landowner out there, who also enjoys hog hunting, and make a round.  We hunted the dogs hard and it was getting hot and we were just ready to give up when I heard my old gyp let out 4 barks.(That means she has caught an old trail and there is a 99% chance she is going to get them up) About a mile later, or half hour later her and AJ bayed up a nice sound of hogs on a point of an island.

I quickly unhooked Gus and River and sent them on their way.(Both are green dogs but coming along nicely.  We had brought the OG Catch just in case they needed help and sure enough the pups ran into an old corral and were having to figure a way out, so I told Tammy to release Catch.  She reluctantly turned him out and he left out like a scalded ape!  We took off after them to get to a busted wad of hogs and dogs everywhere, and I mean there wasnt a small hog in the BUNCH!  My garmin has been down so I was having to use my telemetry system and rely on instincts.(Not fun!)  Well a couple of minutes went by and then we heard the dogs open up again.  Tammy took off for them beating Tommy and I through the woods until I told her to, "slow up and not to worry about Catch, he knows what he is doing!"  Well we finally heard the squealing and found them off in the Red River just off the bank.  I legged the hog and let Tammy get in there and take her frustrations out on that Sow.(Better than her taking them out on me).  Got it killed and pulled out pretty quick, but as hot as it was I wasnt in a hurry to get out of the river at all!

Sundays Hunt:

Scott and his girlfriend met up with us and we took what was left of the dogs from Saturdays hunt out to the same place.  Turned the dogs out and they just kind of meandered around and came back to the buggy.  We then went back to another place and turned them out and they came alive rolling out and catching us a shoat.  Then they rolled on out after we got it tied and the race was on.  The telemetry system came back out, which is a tracker maxima and the most difficult of all of them to use in my opinion, but I still looked like I had never used one before in my life!  So we spent the rest of the morning riding around trying to get a signal on the dogs and they had left the country for the most part. We finally got them back just before lunch and called it a day.  Never again will I hunt without a GPS or yagi antenna!  Scott and his girlfriend were a pleasure to hunt with and I really enjoyed visiting with them both.  Hope he makes it back around for a hunt now that the Garmin is up and runnning again!

Scott and his girlfriends shoat.  It was her first time out and I think she enjoyed it even though we didnt get something better, but as the saying goes in Louisiana, "Should have been here Yesterday!"
