I dont think they did too bad, being it was their first time. I drug the lil boar about 50 yards through the woods and tied its hind legs to a small tree. Took my BMCs about 5 minutes to find him, after I got them away from the bay pen. Once they found him the gyp was trying to attack and the yellow male just stepped back and bayed. The damn pig was useless and just laid there, i'd hoped he would at least try to move around a bit. I let them bay for about 20mins, then I led my little bully dog in. He ran to the bay, but didnt see the pig right away. Once he saw him he locked on and the pig came to life, I was pretty proud of him, because he usually will hit then let go for a better bite; this time he was solid, and then the gyp jumped in there and caught. The yellow male still just stood back baying. Then came the fun part, I only had the pigs back legs tied up and when I untied him from the tree the little sucker took off like a rabbit through the woods, dogs broke hot on his trail, and I mean this dude was trucking. I was thinking if he dont stop, they wont stop, so I took off after em. Got about 150 yards back and they had him hymned up against a downed tree, and I was able to run in and grab him. I was able to grab a little clip with my cell phone during the bay, but had my hands to full soon after to get anything else.

It was fun for a first time, and I wanted to say thanks to the guys that recommended the staged bay.

Thanks guys!
The lil red gyp is about 14 months and the yellow male is about 10 months old. They have been worked in a bay pen but this was their first staged hunt.

zachW,
I like that, I'm going to try next time. I also just read a post where they put the pig in a small pen, I think that would be good for some younger pups I have.

you can take a stick and tie one end of a rope in the middle and the other around the pigs legs and let him get a head start in the woods. it slows him down a lot and makes him bay easy. ive done this alot teachings pups to take a track.

I like that Catch-N-Tie. Hopefully my knot will hold up on that stick
