I got to go out last night on a hunt with Mike, Harry AKA BoarBuster67 and John. If you guys haven’t had the chance to hang out with any of them, it’s a must. Between great stories, history and how-to lessons, and joking around between John and Harry, it was a great evening.  The dogs, and I’d have to say “they have some pretty good ones”, jumped something right away; I say “something” because Harry kept ribbing John about his dogs were probably trailing a hard shelled pig.

GPS’s say treed about a mile in a half away, and the lease we were at doesn’t allow atv’s, so our hike began, but to be honest I could’ve ran it as excited as I was. We start easing into the bay after a hike down the highline and a trip through the palmettos, note: if Mike ever tells you the palmettos are thick, take heed, its not a understatement, I aint never been through anything as thick as those palmettos out there in Crosby, we release the Bulldogs and get in there to see what’s going on and the pigs caught on the other side of  a 15-20 yard wide creek with six foot bluffs (straight down) on both sides, and it didnt look like it had a bottom, then everything goes tumbling back into the creek. I never knew hogs could swim so good, but this sucker would have made Michael Phelps proud. Harry was itching to go swimming, but that pig was illusive and got out before anyone could get the drop on him. I’d have to say them pigs over there are very healthy and quick. He looked to be around 200 pounds and carried it lean.

So we spend the next thirty or so fishing dogs out of the water, by hanging on to each other and grabbing them as they swam by.

All-in all, it was a great time and in a world where so many people are rotten, it was awesome running around in the woods with these guys. I think if there were more hog-doggers around this might be a bit better place.

John, Mike and Harry, thank you for the hunt, it was a pleasure to meet and hang out with y’all, if you ever need an extra set of hands, I’m available. ANYTIME! It may seem like a small gesture to y’all to let a newcomer tag along, but from our eyes it’s huge. Hopefully oneday I can return the favor. Thanks!

I heard y'all had quite a hike last night. Glad that 10' gator didn't make dinner out of one of the dogs.

Casey,
I sure enjoyed the hunt last night. I wish that ol' boar wouldn't have put the slip on us, especially after that race and the hike we went on. I try to tell people how thick the palmettos are over there, they always say... "I know, I hunt palmettos", then they get off into this mess. Grin  A lot of my places are covered in palmettos also... but nothing like this.

Next time we'll go hunt an easy place where we can ride the four wheelers. I think between last night and last week with Jesse Paul is the most i've walked in a year.

X2 on the good bunch of dudes... well cept maybe Harry... I aint never met the man, and he pulls up open the door and says something to the effect of, so you must be that sorry no good SOB named Casey I heard about. Although he said it with that chit eat'n grin and we have a mutual friend that is a mess, way worse than Harry, or what I seen anyhow. John and Harry kept the comradery going. It was definitely a good time.

I'm not sure who Benny is?

I've got a few pups, 2 bmcs about a year, a AB around 7-8 months, and two 2 month old pups a cat and a BMC. All of them showing talent, except the cat, but hes super young. I've got a couple "staged hunt" videos on general discussion.

That's good to hear Mike. I wish it were as easy for us to re-cooperate. Heck, I was a little sore this morning and didnt even have to fight the hog.

Hi Case,

I'm Bennie.... I am sure we will meet if you do much hunting with that crew. I will be easy to spot, I'm the quite one that never messes with anyone;) I think they invite me to referee Harry and John.

Sounds like you fellows really covered some ground. I have big palmettos also, but I do have roads/trails surrounding them. Everybody makes fun of my rough dogs but we normally don't have them long chases, LOL.

Hey Casey it was nice hunting with you. Too bad Harry showed up. Ha Ha! we'll do it again soon. Kidding aside you couldn't hunt with 2 betters guys. Harry and Mike are both great people willing to take anyone hunting that wants to go. Keep them dogs going. John

Hi Benny, Look forward to meeting you bud. Mike probably likes having an extra referee there, to give him some relief.

It was nice meeting/hunting with you too John. X2 on the "Kidding aside you couldn't hunt with 2 betters guys", plus yourself. Like I said before, Its tough meeting good folks these days, and I'd hunt with you three anytime.

Those dang palmetto's were thick, and they do disguise stuff, I remember somebody tripping over some branches and hitting the ground hard, we all walked into a hardwood top coming out, and I got tripped up a few times. I'd do it again though! Reminded me of something off the discovery channel. I felt like we were hunting Gorillas or lions in Africa.
Hope I get to meet you to, Ryan. I recall Mike speaking pretty well of you, and Mike I hope that gator stays holed-up too. I have A LIL hog hunting experiance, but have absolutly NO gator wrestling skills...

That way fat people like me dont have to walk so far. As far as John goes he is our charity case, everyone has one. hehe. We will do it again next week next time mike can hobble the hog better when we put it out so it cant run. Pigstckr you better do your honey do's or the lady thatwears the pants at your hm will be mad
