Due to deer season, I'm pretty limited right now on where and when I can run the dogs, so its trapping, training, and blood tracking time.
Trapped 5 over the last three days on Black Gold and corn.

Anchored one in the woods and let my younger dogs find and bay him. My pit/cur "Hula" caught for the first time(She's a keeper Roger,Get's better every time out!), two jagds "Tinker" and "Jester" both did well, and my new Uglydog "Moo" got to see his first hog. All worked out for the positive.

Got the opportunity to blood trail a bow shot doe yesterday morning. My first string blood dog "Tonka" was at home because I was working the younger dogs, so I harnessed up Tinker and away we went. She picked up the trail at the beginning and was off to the races. There was no blood for the first 50 yards, and then at best it was one drop every 10 yards. She over ran the track twice, but recovered and worked it out. The track was two hours old and ended up being between 150 and 200 yards. It was hard to tell as I was crawling about half the time. Tinker proved she can pinch hit in Tonka's absence.

Thanks Fella's. My Jester dog has had some "issues" that needed working out for the last couple months. Now, after his last few training sessions, I'm anxious to get him back to the woods to see if the pen work has paid any dividends. Also anxious to see if Hula slows those runners a bit more now that she knows she can catch'em.
This was the outcome of todays session.

I ended up catching 13 pigs, and also had two deer to trail, so the dogs got some good work on hogs as well as blood trailng. I "strategically" stuck a few hogs and let them go to create blood trails. None went over a couple hundred yards and it was good work for the dogs. They all also got their fill in the bay pen/backyard. All are doing great. Just can' wait for rifle season to be done so I can get'em back chasing hogs in the woods. Also looking forward to trapping some fur next month. The jagds always sniff out a few coons while on the creek banks trapping which makes for added fun.
All hogs and deer are cut up, deboned, processed, packaged and in the freezer. Now I've got to sharpen every knife I own.

Five more caught on Black Gold and pomegranats (believe it or not!)

One of the ones I stuck and released to trail.

Just finished loading two more from this trap. It's nice when you have plenty help, even if she is up top telling you how to do it

Cool!  Some people may laugh, but I enjoy training dogs as much as I enjoy hunting.  Watching dogs learn, turn on, and develop gets me excited.

How did you teach that jagd to smile?  Wink

Took Savoy to the swamp and he promtly got his v-card punched.

He's out.  And you're out.  And i don't think I'm in either.

Thanks again fellas.
It's taking me awhile, but I've got some dogs that really work for me, and a few more that I have real high hopes for.

She had hair stuck between her teeth Cull. She can find and bay a hog, bloodtrail anything around, trail my lost trapline sets, and you should see her use a tooth pick Shocked Grin Shocked

I hope she does Mike. Heck, I hope everybody does. The more skinning pro's we have the better it will go. Everybody be thinking about the Expo/contest and be sure to check out the TDHA board and post up what you might be able to do to assist.  Everything is underway for getting sponsers, donations, volunteers for skinning, ect. It won't be long and it's going to be a blast just like last year. I never would have thought that skinning 20,000 pounds of hogs could be so enjoyable, but surrounded by good hard working people we had a ball.
