Jacob I have only hunted my dogs in the snow once last year up in the panhandle,I was throwing them out of the box while looking at hogs and my dogs couldnt smell them.I am curious to see what others have to say on the subject.

The few times I have hunted in the snow were successful hunts. Dogs did well, and it was sure easy to see where the hogs had been.

I took off for a week last year to hunt for a week.  The first morning, I woke up and there was 10" of snow on the ground here in East TX.  I thought it would be good because the boys in the mountains say it is easier for a dog to trail in the snow.  Two days later when most of the snow had melted, we bayed our first hog.  Bayed nine hogs over the next four days, but never bayed one the two days when snow was on the ground.  I'm like Bullmaster, my dogs acted confused on the snow.  They really didn't want to get out and hunt, I guess it blew their mind. LOL

Always loved hunting in snow, I believe with snow on the ground it keeps the scent lower to the ground which makes it easier for the dogs to trail. I had a walker that ran by sight of bears tracks in the snow in California, that ole dog was something else though.

Nice little video clip, there were some good sized hogs in that bunch.
