Just got my new dog 3 days ago. Took her to the vet for a check up, and was surprised to find out she weighs 14.10LBS at 8 1/2 weeks. Knowing her weight now, is there such a thing as a chart or rule of thumb that can be used to sort of guess how big she will be when full grown? Thanks

Not that I know of and if there was it would be breed specific. What breed of dog?

I dont know about a chart but 14 lbs. seems heavy for a 8 week old pup of the cur type. What breed is she?

Sorry Dub, I posted a few seconds behind you.

I am sure somewhere on the www, somebody has one, however I would not rely on it to be very accurate because some breeds and more importantly ceratin bloodlines are going to grow at different rates and some will reach their maturiry earlier than others.
If you can contact the breederes you got the dog from and get an adult weight on the parents and grandparents it will give you a much better average. That sounds like a big puppy to me.

Sackett ( AB ) weighed 14.5# at eight weeks. he is predicted to grow out around 90# plus. SO if she took after her daddy, should be too far out of norm.

very wierd that you asked this question..... i was talking to Mr Mason about an hour ago and we talked about just this dog size question. he figured at 12 weeks they weigh pretty much one third of what they will. i think that he is pretty much right on give or take a few lbs.

My BMC is  42lbs at 6 months old. My vet said she should be around 55-60lbs full grown. I don't think she'll get that big, but what do i know....
