Have had lots of dogs get banged up tail from chain-link kennel slapping and in the brush (cactus/thorns).
Worse on a hound type dog with a long heavy tail, not sure there is much to do.
I too am interested to see if someone can help us. Grin

I even went as far as trying to cauterize the end of one of my dogs tail one time. worked for a day or two then he whacked it against something and it was bleeding again.

This time of year I have some trouble with them being very DRY & itchy and chewing the ends, and then everything else aggitates them, flys, ect.

I have used with some success a product called MTG (Shapelys Mane & Tail) it is an equine product, that works on my mules tail that also gets dry & itchy, It is very oily and has sulphur in it but seems to keep flys off, keep them from chewing and give some relief and healing.

I never thought of MTG! I have that on hand. it stinks like sulphur and rotten bacon. it would grow hair on an egg though.
