Well me, Josh (joshh34), benji and jake decided we'd try our luck at this tournament thing, had Garrit with us helpin out and also Zane a guy from Brady that was a top notch host as was Jake also.  Never entered a competition so didnt know what to expect or how to go about things but had one hell of a time.  Jake put us on about a 60,000 acre ranch in between brady and san saba that had never been dogged before and was loaded with hogs.  Ranch was rough, rocky, and thorns everywhere, not what we r used to.  Just pullin in the front gate and tryin to get to the house to set up base we catch 3 pigs.... good start and just got better from there...

Things kinda start to run together and hard to keep up with everything after lack of sleep and countless hogs but ended up with 27 total killed for the weekend which included 4 piglets....  Storm blew in fri night, a lil rain and hellacious wind, so we didnt get much down that night but had 9 shanked before we started back saturday morning

Saturday came with great weather and good huntin, got on lots of groups and kept rollin.  Couldnt ask for much better out of the dogs they hunted long and hard and made us proud.  only injury to dogs we had was josh's catch dog got his leg bit by a good baar with 3 in cutters, he sucked it up and still used him on alot of the other catches

We got on alot of pigs but never got on anything with good size, there was alot of swine in that country but not much with size, our biggest 2 which were barrs and both had 3 inch cutters field dressed 168, all the rest were just average hogs, so we knew we didnt stand much chance for the heaviest 5 but thot we might make a run for the stringer

Out of the 27 we only hauled 14 to weigh ins.  We let 3 good ones ruin by no fault but our own just didnt get them gutted before the heat got them, and a few that were questionable of bein big enough to make the 75 lbs field dressed got left in the cactus and thickets bc we didnt think they were worth draggin out in that nasty mess.

Overall had a great weekend with excellent people and excellent dogs.  Thanks TDHA for puttin on the hunt, its really a great thing they are doin for all involved.  i'm sure i left alot out but can be added later

Had a blast, cant wait to do it again buddy!  Ruger and Achilles are still exhausted and so am I.  Roughest country I have ever been in for sure.  Couldnt have asked more out of the dogs, especially the way Lucy and Achilles hunted, that was just amazing how they kept on a goin.

Looks like a good time...lot of hogs in that area. Just tough to catch the size needed for this contest. Heck of a haul!

Man I wouldnt know what to do catching 27 in one weekend. Im lucky to get on one a weekend.lol  That would be freakin awesome to do what yall did. It wouldnt matter to me if they were 27 hogs that didnt weigh 20 lbs a piece. I have never been a part of something like that. Good job and good hunt
