One of my friends has a son who has been riding bucking steers, and they are about to have their finals this weekend. The guy who has been providing the "rough" stock for them had some heifers in his bucking string, and they started bagging up and dropping calves last week. They knew that we had some old roping stock that we've been using for Ranch Sorting events, and asked if they could come over and buck them out to see if any of them would work for their event this weekend.  Some of the smaller steers bucked too hard for the junior riders, yet were not large enough for the older kids, some of the larger steers just plain didn't buck worth a darn, and 5 of them ended up being just right, and adding our 5, plus 4 from another fellla, there was just enough to get them out of a bind.

Mandi was able to get a few pics, thought y'all might get a kick out of them.

BTW, these kids are 7-9 years old.

At about the age of 10-12 I went with a good friend to Field Store and we were gonna ride steers like that in the Saturday night rodeo.  I chickened out  Embarrassed , Jared rode and made it about 4 seconds and ate chit and I didn't feel so bad anymore  Grin.  It was fun just being the chute and seeing it all transpire.

Matt,

These kids ride at Caldwell, Field Store, Alvin, and Liberty.  They take their steer riding pretty serious Grin

I was so tickled with our boys and girls last night, they gave some of those kids a heck of a ride! Some sure enough bucked those kids off. Of course, I am always pulling for the stock since everyone else pulls for the riders. They were civil, but some of them sure did buck. It was kind of weird watching our sorting stock catching air.

Cheers
