I'm still new to this and gotta lot of learning ahead of me. And something that i've been wondering about is my cat always stops and rolls around once before he really takes off to hunt. I've seen a couple jokes about them rolling in crap but he just does it where ever. I just wanted to know why he does it.

I think it is specific trait that naturally occurs in all catahoula's. Shocked

(Kidding of course!)

All dogs like rollin in stinky dead crap kinda like perfume to them. Or he is just gettin the kinks worked from layin in the pen and thats just his thing.

My father in law use to have a gyp that would do that...you could always tell when she heat scent she could smell because she would roll around and then usually go bay a hog, almost like it was a warning to us.

haha my dogs cant even start hunting untill they roll around in something dead. If its not in something dead and they are just rolling then I think they are just doing it cause it feels good. Kinda like stretching. But there is nothing wrong with that at all. They are dogs!

Sometimes I have to stop and let them roll around in something dead for a while when they find it. I figure they are doing a good job may as well reward them by lettin em roll around in some dead possum!  Grin Grin Grin
