I'm just now getting started and I'm trying to start my own pack but I don't know what would be the best combination of dogs as far as a few bay dogs and a good find dog and a catch dog! Want to know what would make the best pack opinions are more than welcome! Thanks to all

I would say it depends on what kind of hunting you are gonna do , you wanna bay them an shoot them or , catch n tie them ? Do you want loose Baying dogs or you want rough catchy kinda dogs ?
I like rough dogs that catch by there self under 100 pounds an if thee more than one dog there I want them to catch it an then I send the catch dog in to , but how many dogs an what kind will just depend on how you wanna hunt ,
Is there alot of hogs in your area , do you have lots of land ? Do the hogs run or just hang around an not run like a dang marathon runner ?
You might also wanna think about the range you want your dogs to hunt , I hunt small places so I like short range dogs

Hurry!!!! back step now. get out while you're still sain.... lol naw I'm just messin' around. here's what I got.

I like 3 bay dogs with atleast one if not 2 with a nose to find em. atleast one if not 2 bulldogs just cuz I can lol. I didn't start out right and it's takin' me 2 years to catch the hogs i've been getting on. Take your time be dang sure what you want and stick with it. I bounced back and forth between ideas on th right pack for awhile. Learned the hard way just cuz their momma or daddy did it don't mean they all turn out that's just a gamble. lots and lots of time. Patience is the key to getting started. learned that as well that you can't just jump right into it unless you're freakin' loaded $$$ lol

It really depends on what kind of dogs you like.  I like ROUGH curs (for now).  ive got 1 finished cur that will catch 150 or so and under by himself, drop another dog an the weight goes up considerably.  the older he gets the less rough he is, but my year od cur is followin in his footsteps.  now my cat x gyp is a little rough but not near as bad as the other two.  Never had need of a CD but ive got a 3/4 bulldog 1/4 cat pup that im gonna raise up for the purpose since im sick of cut dogs.

Listen to Heaven Sent Grin I would recommend not doing what I did. I went out and got dogs. That was because I could not get people to take me with them. But I did not find this board fast enough. I would say don't get any dogs. Go hunt with people and see how they hunt and how their dogs work together. Not Just one person but several people. I have burned lots of diesel to go hunt with people. Help them work the bay dogs in a pen. That will help you learn about the hogs more than it helps the dogs. Before you know it you will have more dogs than you can handle. Only pay for a dog that you go looking for. People have unplanned litters and you can get puppies for free or cheap if they know you. If you take a free or cheap dog and sell it you will not get another one. The most important thing you can do is treat people the best you can. I have dogs I payed for that I will listen to the people that sold me the dog. So go help out dragging hogs and working pens. The rest will fall into place.

I would love to go and just hunt and learn how everythings done its just that the hunters in my area don't want to take an inexperienced hunter with them. I would also like to hunt gritty dogs just not to gritty and medium range, and I also need help learning the right and wrong ways of how to start a pup and get some small pigs
