You ever have one of those places it seems like everytime you go there nothing good happens?  We had one of those places until last night.  We hunted this set of cornfields last year four times and didn't get a bark three times and on the fourth we bayed a bunch of hogs and in the end wound of with hurt dogs and no hogs to show.  The farmer called Hudy and wanted to run again of coarse giving the claim there were "big" hogs running everywhere.
We turned Chief, Sassy, Buzz, Dolly and Black out at 8:30 and started around the fields.  We got a little ways from the truck and I asked Hudy how far the dogs were since they had been out of sight for a while.  Hudy says, "I bet the garmin will know."  Of course my response was "well what does it say?"  Hudy grins and says "I'll be back I guess it does us no good sitting on the trailer" and he headed back to get it.  On his way back, I heard Chief open in the corn.  The wind was picking up and I couldn't pin point exactly where he was but knew he was barking.  Hudy got back just in time to hear him bay and we headed toward him.  We got within 150 yards cut the bikes off and all the dogs were there now and just a hammering.  I started to lead Cotton toward the bay and it seemed to get intense so I sent Cotton and told the farmer and Hudy to wait until he hit to start running.  It didn't take long and you could hear the fight.  We made our way in to see a large hog with tremendous wetters fighting the dogs.  Hudy grabbed the hog and after a brief discussion we decided we were not tieing the hog and I stuck it.  We checked the dogs good and no one had a scratch.  Hudy and I wanted to get a weight on the hog so we started to drag the hog out.  The farmer was excited about the hog and asked what the heck we were doing.  We told him we were dragging the hog out of his field.  He said wait here and soon arrived on the four wheeler driving through his corn to drag the hog out.  It seems he wanted to kwow what the hog weighed also.
After the three of us playing the guessing game on weight, we kicked the dogs back out and started around the field.  Not long after Buzz was barking a pretty good ways in the corn.  We drove around to get closer.  We stopped in time to hear all the dogs get there and the hog broke heading our direction.  A few minutes later Buzz barks again and as soon as another dog sounds off the hog and Dogs come flying out of the field heading for the river less than 100 yards away.  Hog, Buzz, and Chief go over the bank and drop 30 foot into the river.  We get there to see two objects going down river at a pretty good clip.  I told the other two to go get the bikes and I would retrieve the dogs.  I tied the other dogs off and found a way down to the river and was able to get Chief back but couldn't locate Buzz.  I start calling him and about 40 yards down river he answers.  I thought he was stuck so I went to him to help him up.  It looked like he was barking at the bank so I began to climb down to him when a rather large sow blows up out of the hole in the bank he was barking at.  I was able to catch Buzz and opted not to let him persue her across the river  Grin
We regroup again and head back to the field and it didn't take long and Sassy started hammering off in the corn.  The dogs all went to her and the corn field erupted!  Hogs chattering everywhere.  We listened for a couple of minutes to see if the hogs were going to split but nothing happened.  The farmer wanted to know what we do now.  I let Cotton go and told him the dogs would sort it out.  We started our way in and hogs broke everywhere.  Baydogs had one and Cotton had one.  Got them killed and started carring them out and the farmer insisted we leave them there.  We decided to call it a hunt and started back to the truck loaded the boar when Sassy started another hog.  We looked at the garmin and she was dangerously close to the highway on the backside of the field.  We drove around quickly and got between her and the road which caused the hog to break.  They stopped and bayed the hog several more times but ended up hot, tired, and lost it.
We went to Mike H's house to weigh the hog.  It went 320 on the scale and sports some of the nicest top teeth I have seen on a hog.  I will get the pictures up later today.

Great hog...That's something you probably wont ever see again, I'd be tempted to put him on the wall or at least a euro mount.

Awesome hog guys!!  The story is epic.  Congrats.  I nominate the following for ETHD quote of the year.

I let Cotton go and told him the dogs would sort it out.

It sure would have been nice if I could have sent my other catch dog with Cotton to bust up the group. I hear she spends her nights on a deck drinking MaiTai's and studying.

She's got good poolside manners and enjoys trashing on coons with her sister that try to steal dogfood off the porch while I'm studying.  Only 7 more weeks of class.  Maybe then she'll be able to catch hogs again and render first aid to her fellow canines when they need it.
