Man I like skating rink slick concrete in the kennels but some guys like broom finish because it supposedly toughness their pads. I like slick cement cuz if you put down a good sealer you don't even need to apply any real pressure with the hose and the turds will float out the back.

I think just a bull float or frezno finish is best. The broom holds poo particles and makes clean up hard and a burnt finish make it real slippery when wet. where ya located purebred? I happen to know a decent concrete guy

U can do the forms for the slab pretty easy dig a little beam around the outside of the slab and put wire in it doesn't need to be real thick I do mine three inchs. At the new house I'm putting drains in so they can be tied into a sewer system and all the stink is washed away.

I use shredded cedar mulch on dirt. You can get it for 20.00 a load. The cedar smells good and shovel it out after a few months and replace. Easy to pick up the poop.
