I was cleaning out my pickup the other day and found a $75 gift card to cabelas so I thought I would get a new flashlight. I've been using a rechargable maglight fir the last 4 years but it finally gave up on me. I liked the maglight but it seemed about the time I really needed it it would go dead. Like in the middle of blood trailing a deer. I'm leaning towards the led surefires or something like it. So whats ya'lls choice on flashlights? Thanks

Surefire flashlights are really good and bright but most don't have a very long runtime on high.

I use a streamlight pt-2l. Bright as he!! and has a decent runtime. Bout as big as a roll of pennies but the lithium ion batteries are EXPENSIVE, but i consider the battery price a pretty good trade off for the size

I would buy 4 of the cheapest LED flashlights Cabelas has available. Then use the rest of the money on the most expensive batteries available. I loose flash lights often.

Streamlight Stinger LED is the only way to go. I've used one on patrol for years. Its bright as a spotlight and battery last forever.

Well I'm not with everyone on this. Cheap it's always better. I have both of these flashlight. There called the Halo with is 800 lumens and it as tall as a soda can and the diablo which is 900 lumens with 5 LEDs. These are made in USA. These things are badass. I use there led light bars on trucks we build. If you want one IM me I can get you wholesale pricing on these. http://www.polyperformance.com/shop/Rigid-Industries-LED-Flashlight-p-24300.html

Ya I use headlamp all the time. But I always carry a flashlight as a back up etc. The best headlamp I found for bang for your buck is the princeton apex pro. It's 200 lumens bright as hell and there about $50-$60.

x2 the night sport 2 comes with adjustable beam (spot light) and 6 volt gell battery. Holds a charge for quite a long time and is bright enough to get the job done. Also has the rheohead to adjust the light strength so you can use enough light as you need and conserve battery life. Comes with a wall charger. It can be used as a hand held or hands free walking light. It cost 85 dollars with out the hat and for 11 dollars more you can get the hat. I got rid of the hat... too hot to wear.

Those nitelight are so big and old school style lol. I mean look out big the battery is to carry And they don't even out out as much light as these headlamp out IMO. Surefire are way over priced but are very good lights. But there headlamp sucks for the price. The $30 streamlight headlamp is better. The best headlamp out is Petzl Ultra but $300. The best bang for your buck is the Princeton apex which is use. Small light weight and last long long time on 4 AA. I guarantee you'll never use another headlamp. IMO

TCB,
you might be right, but I will wait a little longer and see what is best for the money or just maybe the technology will get a little better.
