I suggest trying a Dorcy head lamp 65 lumen runs on 3 aaa batteries sears carry's them for 29.99. I get about 5 hunts out of 3aaa batteries at about 4 to 6 hours a hunt. We ride wheelers alot so the light is not on all the time. I bought a nite lite in 1987 when I was coon hunting and have replace battery once its a very good light but 9 out 10 times I'll grab the little Dorcy because it only weighs few ounces and its more than plenty of light for hog hunting. My buddy's can't believe the amount of light and length of beam the little light puts out. The times I do take my night lite its because my kids go and one of them grab my Dorcy.

You may want to try one of the coon lite style lites. Nite lite, brite eyes, k lite, quick track and many more companies make this type of lite. They are verry brite, most you can adjust the briteness of your beam. They are rechargable, batteries will last one nite or more depending on the model and how hot you burn it. You can get them from 4 volt to 28 volt in a variety of styles.
I have a brite eyes 6 volt I picked up a few years ago and have been pleased with it. It will last all nite and when turned up is much briter than a high end flash lite. Payed about $100 for it. Also purchased a 2" belt that the battery attaches to and has a place on the other side for a knife or pistol or whatever you want.

how do you like that tracker??? seems like it's a good option. i can't see myself trying to keep a hardhat on while running in the woods. does the hat ride well with the light on it? the ones i'm used to are the compacts but it seems i may have to go to something more this style.

Most of the heads on coon lites have the same deal on the back to attach them to the hat. I dont know what other companies make but nite lite has a low profile hat I like. Made just like a baseball cap. There are also the hard hats which suck and the elmer fud hats. Mine came with a hard hat. I chunked it and got one of the baseball cap deals for it.
