What are you guys paying for hay when you can find it? I finally found some around where I live and I am paying 115 a half ton bale of alfalfa and was offered 90 a bale for grass hay  and that is after weeks of looking for some. Most of the suppliers here are only growing premium hay and selling it at around 9 bucks a two strand bale. Just curious what you guys are paying for it/

Just starting to see the price gouging going on here in NE Oklahoma. I checked craigslist tonight and saw two seperate ads asking $10 for a square bale. Last year we felt like we were getting ripped to pay $3. And I know its even worse for ya'll down in TX. Our hay guy up here said his phone is ringing off the hook with people looking for hay. Everything he has cut or is going to cut is already sold. Said he usualy hauls a bunch to TX, but there is such a demand around here right now there is no need to do so. He also said he is cutting a lot fields now he normally wouldnt mess with due to weeds and all, but he knows people are going to be needing something, even if it is not the best and he can't get the money he could get for good clean hay.  Looks like its going to be a long hard winter for a lot of people with little to no chance of a second cut around here. I imagine this winter there will be some good deals to be found on some good horses and livestock due to people not being able to feed them.

MY Dad works for Maxim Egg Farms in WHarton. he works for the hay division and they are baling irrigated , manure fertilized hay daily. And shipping out trailer loads daily.

Just for those within reach of them. I can get phone numbers if you need them.

I know my whole family in Pittsburg Tx (about 2hrs east of Dallas) is looking for some loads of hay I anybody knows of any.  I know a few ranchers that have had cattle before I was alive that have already sold out.  Were really trying to avoid that.
