Another question for all you gurus, Is it possible to change a dogs catching instinct of where to catch. I have catXpit dog that I'm trying to start, he wants to catch on the nose, I've redirected him to the ear with no luck of him staying caught there. Does it take a bigger hog or Huh?

Also, I worked my walkerxcat pups this morn. on a 90lb.er, they bayed there a$$ off after deciding they didn't care to be knocked around, then let pig go bout 10 min ahead of them and out of sight, they instantly went to trailing him. I'm very impressed with their first couple showings, Thank you all again for the tips and advise

I had a bulldog that was catchin good when he first started he was catching on ear everytime then all of sudden he started catchin on leg an I could not break em from that so I got rid of em, but once they figure out they can catch it on nose that's prob what he is gona go for.      Jmo tho

get in where ya fit in. if he is good at holding the nose he doesnt need a vest and he keeps those teeth from swinging at other dogs. your dogs dont have to fit the ETHD ideal, they just gotta work in your woods

Get another two that catch on the ear and you wont have a hog that can move  Grin

I would like to add a nose dog to the team one of these days.

Overall I'm satified with a caught hog, I was just concerned when he meets a bigger toothy dude it will wreck him...does that not seem to be the problem for those of you with dogs that catch on the nose??

Knocking on wood, its bound to happen but so far I think ive had less cuts. She never got a scratch while in tx, and we caught a few big toothies. The ones that was catching on the ears was the ones that got cut, but they may have got there 1st.
