Made a quick hunt this morning.....this little hog did enough damage to send us back to the truck.....It was Faiths first day afield.....

We got a lot of video, had to edit it down to under 10 minutes in order to upload to internet.  Faith did ok.  She didn't hang out at the atv's, she went out pretty good, she barked at the pig some, not to bad for her first day of school.

Jack will be fine, got a pretty deep cut to the ham, sewed the muscle back together and stapled him up,  he's on anti-biotics.  Should be fine in 2 weks?  Ty got 2 minor pokes, Faith got too close and got a skin cut.

Blackland EllieMae II, she's now at the Taylor's home in northern La and she just had 7 pups on Thursday.  I know they are keeping a male, the rest are available.  She had 6 males and 1 female.  They crossed her to Wiley.  Wiley and EllieMae were both here doing a good job on hogs but I sent them both to the Taylors so they can produce some pups.

Nice hog, and video. Hope for a speedy recovery. I'm gonna have to get my kemmer pup to watch it so he can see how her mom and dad work a pig.  Cheesy

Thanks, hope the pup turns out and makes you a good dog.  I've decided to breed Bonnie to Ty this winter when she comes in.  Keep me posted on the pup, send pics and I'll put them on the website.   Wink

Boo is all but retired, I'm tired of sewing her up.   Undecided  I still use her occasionally, but try to keep her out of the heat as much as I can, she'll be 10 on September 1st.  She has slowed down a bit, but she still takes on hogs she shouldn't and will stay with a runner until it stops.
I had a man try to buy her from me last month, I told him she was too old to sell and she was family, he still said, "put a price on her."  I had to turn it down, she's my girl.   Smiley

And Faith is 9 months old.  Normally, I'd start them earlier than that, but in her case, I decided to wait and give her more time, especially with this heat.  I don't have easy access to a bay pen so taking them to the woods is my only option.  I'd prefer introducing a pup to hog in a pen, but for now, it's the real deal.  I only turned her out on that one because it was in the water and it wasn't the best hog for her first as she really couldn't see it and wasn't sure what it was, but at least she barked and showed some interest.

I'm looking forward to some cooler weather........

He is big already. I should be able to let him run with the big dogs in the next month or two. He is outgrowing his sister nearly doubled, but he was the biggest of the litter. (he is George) When I let him out of the pin he is nose to the ground and moving. I'll post or email pics soon.
