http://static.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid655.photobucket.com/albums/uu277/tnhillbilly/VID_20110815_090558.mp4Had a good morning, found a good track early. Turned dogs loose, and they put this one up pretty quick. The last pic was at the base of the tree where the bear was. To show how thick it is, those feller were only about 10ft away from me. We pulled the dogs back a little, and down it came, and the race was on again, ah music to my ears. That bear wasn't about to tree again, it mad a big loop and crossed the trail in front of me and went over the next ridge and made a stand in the THICK, AND I MEAN THICK, mtn laurel. I was lucky enough to stay right on top of the action all morning, which dont happen very often. I eased in to the bay, and it winded me and got up and started walking. It would walk a while, and fight a while. This is the kind of bear you dont want your dogs on during training season. They will back up in the laurel, and single out a dog, and run it down, and dogs cant get out of the way. Only had 2 get hurt, nothing too bad though. Once we figured out it wasn't going to tree, and seen the first dog caught we decided to catch the dogs off, as quickly as possible. Now this is the fun part, crawling on our hands and knees within feet of a mad bear, thats charging dogs, and blowin, and breaking laurel like tooth picks. One by one we followed the bear and finally got all the dogs caught. The new dog done a real good job. I got to see the bear several times and had a blast. Going to try again in the morning. We have a training season which we can just run our dogs but not carry any firearms, or take any bear. Then we have kill a se ason. Weight limit is anything over 50 lb. But we try and take only 200+. your only allowed 1 per person per yr. Nc has much longer season than Tn. We can train from end of Aug. Then kill season opens in Oct. Thru Nov. Then opens back up in Dec and runs thru Jan. Tn has a two week training in Sept. And a 4 day kill season in Nov and a 14 day kill season in Dec. Load them plotts and come on

I knew you'd do it Tom,....this makes me wish for a tree dog again. I love my curs but there's nothing quite like hearing hounds treeing on a bear....brings back a lot of fond memories.....thanks bud.

Neal, I thought you'd like that, thanks
Matt, just depends on how many people are hunting, its not uncommon to see 20+ dogs at a tree. I think we had about 8 this day.
Mike, thanks bud. You ever have any pups yet?

Thanks, yeah my spirits were gettin low for sure. But aint gonna get my hopes too high, cause every time I do something happens. This particular place I hunt usually holds some mean ones. Im glad we didn't have anymore dogs than we did on this one cause it could have got ugly. He definitely was not afraid.
